Mechanically Stabilized Earth Walls

The purpose of this Circular is to present a concise description of mechanically stabilized embankment/wall systems so that practicing engineers will have the necessary understanding of design methodologies, applications, and limitations. An attempt is made to be generic in the explanation of basic principles, while also focusing on differences in the various systems. Construction procedures are discussed for the benefit of designers, resident engineers, and inspectors. A list of references is provided for a more in-depth study of mechanically stabilized embankment/wall systems.
